Here are some fun things to do in Washington County this weekend…

National Pike Fest
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Friday, Saturday and Sunday
WHERE: Various stops
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: This weekend the Wagon train is coming to Washington County. Wagon trains have been rolling since 1989 as a part of the Maryland segment of the Washington County National Pike Festival. With its strategic geographical location between the Allegheny Mountains and the Blue Ridge Mountains, Washington County played a key role in opening the West to our nation.The planned schedule is Friday, Wagon Train encampment at Plumb Grove in Clear Spring. Saturday, departs 9am to Hagerstown. Encampment at Ralph Henderson’s Ag Center, Wilson Boulevard. Sunday, departs at 10 am, proceeding through Funkstown to Alt. Rt. 40, ending at Shafer Park in Boonsboro. Wagon train travels 40 miles with encampments, visiting old-fashioned town festivals celebrating the road that made a nation.

Smithsburg Pride Days
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday 10 am – ? and Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm
WHERE: Veterans Park, Smithsburg Library and throughout Smithsburg
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: They will have live music, craft and food vendors both days.  A parade at 11 am on Saturday; Street Dance with DJ and Food by the lion’s Club starts at 6 pm on Saturday with fireworks at dusk.

Railroad Heritage Days
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday 11 to 5pm and Sunday Noon to 5 pm
WHERE: Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum, 300 S Burhans Blvd Hagerstown
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: All aboard! Planned displays include Thomas the Tank Engine trackless train ride, historic railroad and military displays, G, HO, and O scale model railroads, trains for children to operate,
COST: Admission is $5; .50 cents for ages 4 to 12 and free for ages 3 and younger

Sheriff’s Police & Community Day
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday  10am to 2 pm
WHERE: Valley Mall
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: The Washington County Sheriff’s Department is the host of this event.. They will have document shred and prescription turn in in the front parking lot near Sears. Equipment displays and K-9 demonstrations will be in the common areas inside the mall
COST: Free
Kids Alive Fest
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Sat 11 am to 3 pm
WHERE: Children’s Village, 1546 Mt Aetna Rd, Hagerstown
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Planned activities include timed ball toss, food, mini car rides, K-9 demo at noon, auto extrication demo at 1 pm, helicopter landing and Medivac demo at 1:15 pm, Ronald McDonald Safety Show at 2 pm, plus child ID program and fire hose spraying challenge.
COST: Admission is free
