Trains for Everyone
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Friday, Saturday and Sunday 1 to 5 pm
WHERE: Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum, 300 S Burhans Blvd Hagerstown.
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Displays include HO scale model railroad, trains for kids to operate, historic railroad equipment, artifacts and photos

Canal Boat Tours
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturdays and Sundays 10:30 am, 12:15, 1:30 and 3 pm through summer
WHERE: C&O Canal Williamsport Visitor Center, 205 W Potomac St Williamsport
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: The Chesapeake and Ohio National Historical Park offers canal launch boat tours from Cushwa Basin to Lock 44

Hagerstown Corn Maze
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday from Noon to 10 pm, and Sundays (noon to 5 pm thur October
WHERE: Celebration Farm, 17638 Garden View Rd, Hagerstown.
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: This year they have 3 mazes – Heart of the Civil War, Hagerstown Suns, and Home Run the Movie. Don’t forget to bring a flashlight for the moonlight mazes. All profits are donated to local faith-based non profits.
COST: Cost is $6, $3 for ages 5 to 12, and free for children 4 and younger.

Maugansville Pride Days
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday 9 to 4 pm
WHERE: Maugansville Community Park
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: there will be food, crafts and entertainment.

Art in The Park
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday and Sunday noon to dusk
WHERE: Doubs Woods Park’s art Pavilion, 1307 S Potomac St. Hagerstown
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Sponsored by the Contemporary School of the Arts and Gallery, Art in the Park will feature local artists, face painting, fun, games, balloons, and music. Be sure to bring a blanket or lawn chair.

Nature Holiday Weekend
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday, Sunday and Monday
WHERE: Fort Frederick State Park, 11100 Fort Frederick Road, Big Pool
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Saturday’s activities include: children’s nature stories and crafts, 11 a.m.; aquatic life and water quality of the Potomac, a presentation at the river’s side, 1 p.m.; Wild Fruits and Seeds of Autumn, naturalist-led walk, 4 p.m.; Things that Go Bump in the Night, guided night-hike, 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2: nature crafts for children, 11 a.m.; children’s story hour, featuring a reading of “The Little Red Bat,” 1 p.m.; how to create a butterfly/hummingbird garden, 3 p.m.; how to create a backyard habitat for wildlife, 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3: ranger-led Beaver Pond walk, 11 a.m.; talk on what it’s like to be a park ranger, 1 p.m.; interactive presentation on the diet of an owl, 2 p.m.
COST: $3 service charge per vehicle for MD residents; $5 for nonresidents

Pen Mar Park Concerts
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Sunday  2 to 5 pm
WHERE: Pen Mar Park, off Pen Mar High Rock Road, Cascade
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: The Holders will perform classic rock dance music is  schedule to perform

Free Concert
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Sunday at 4:30 pm
WHERE: HCC Alumni Amphitheater, located on HCC Campus, off Robinwood Dr Hagerstown
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: The Quantico Marine Corps Band is scheduled to perform in this next to the last Red, White and Blue Concert Series.

Royal Princess Party
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday September 8 from 1 to 3 pm
WHERE: HCC ARCC Gymnasium.

I know this one is still more than a week away but since you MUST purchase your tickets in advance I wanted to give everyone plenty of notice.


The Washington County Recreation Department will be hosting a Royal Princess Party. This event is recommended for girls ages 0 -12. Everyone is encouraged to dress in their fanciest, princess or fairy attire and to bring their royal manners and practice taking turns and sharing. The afternoon will be filled with royal activity stations including balloons, magic fairy dust creation, temporary tattoo parlor, Royal Photo scene, movie, light refreshments, coloring, dancing, Cinderella shop (use your royal tokens here), magic show, enchanted performances, play zone and special salon.


Children tickets will be exchanged for an enchanted bag containing autograph album, royal tokens and a special ticket for magical fairy dust. You may color and get princess autographs in your album, Only royal tokens may be used at the Cinderella Shop in the lobby. Trade in your special ticket at the magical fairy dust creation stations. The afternoon will conclude with a Royal Ball for everyone in attendance.


Royal family members please remember that children must be supervised at all times.

COST: Tickets are $5 per child (0-12 ) and $2 per adult ticket (does not include royal tokens or autograph book)(13+) and EVERYONE must have a ticket. NO TICKETS will be sold at the door.
