Family Fun for the weekend of March 8, 2013

spring forwardDon’t forget to Spring the clocks forward one hour before you go to bed on Saturday evening. It is rough to lose an hour of sleep but we will gain an hour of daylight! This is also the perfect time to replace the batteries in all your smoke detectors. If you don’t have working smoke detectors, please contact your local fire department – they may have a program that can provide you these life saving devices for free. Here are some fun things to do in Washington County this weekend…

Trains for Everyone
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Friday, Saturday and Sunday 1 to 5 pm
WHERE: Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum, 300 S Burhans Blvd Hagerstown.
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Displays include HO scale model railroad, trains for kids to operate, historic railroad equipment, artifacts and photos
COST: Admission is $4;  50 cents for ages 4 to 12 and free for ages 3 and younger

WHEN and WHAT TIME: Thru Saturday – regular mall hours
WHERE: Valley Mall, 17301 Valley Mall Rd, Hagerstown
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Races cars will be on display at the Valley Mall, thru Saturday, March 9th. You can meet race car drivers and Miss Queen State on Saturday from 6 to 9 pm.
COST: Free
        Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 2 pm.
WHERE: Clear Spring High School, 12630 Broadfording Rd, Clear Spring.
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Clear Spring High School drama club will present “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”  The cast of about 30 will stage the show about a newly married couple, Adam and Milly, who live in the 1850s Oregon frontier. When Adam brings Milly home, she quickly realizes he failed to mention he is taking care of his six siblings. In order to save her marriage, Milly hatches a plan to get her brother-in-laws married.

Easter Bunny is coming to town
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday  11 am
WHERE: Valley Mall
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: The Easter Bunny arrives Saturday at 11 a.m. at Center Court at Valley Mall. Each child visiting the Bunny will receive an Easter coloring storybook. The first 100 people who purchase a photo package will receive a cuddly, plush, angel bunny. Bunny hours are Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Saturday, March 30.
COST: Free to see the Easter Bunny but pictures are extra
Cinderella Closet
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Tonight 4:30 to 6:30 pm
WHERE: Washington County Technical High School, 50 W Oak Ridge Dr, Hagerstown
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: If you have a high school age daughter, then you know this is prime Prom dress buying time and you should check out this event. They will have formal dresses and accessories for sale at greatly reduced prices. None of the dresses will be sold for more than $40. And all the proceeds benefit the Humane Society
COST: Free to enter
