Here are some fun things to do in Washington County this weekend…

Trains for Everyone
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Friday, Saturday and Sunday 1 to 5 pm
WHERE: Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum, 300 S Burhans Blvd Hagerstown.
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Displays include HO scale model railroad, trains for kids to operate, historic railroad equipment, artifacts and photos
COST: Admission is $4;  50 cents for ages 4 to 12 and free for ages 3 and younger

Easter Bunny visits
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Bunny hours are Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Saturday, March 30.
WHERE: Valley Mall
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: The Easter Bunny is hanging out  at Center Court at Valley Mall. Each child visiting the Bunny will receive an Easter coloring storybook.
COST: Free to see the Easter Bunny but pictures are extra
 
Easter Fun
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Friday 6 to 8 pm
WHERE: Bethel United Methodist Church, 21006 Twin Springs Dr, Chewsville
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Join the fun with a nighttime egg hunt, diner, and the movie “Lion of Judah” Open to all ages

   Bunny Trail Craft Show
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Friday from 5 to 9 and Sat from 9 am to 5 pm
WHERE: Springfield Farm Barn, Off Rt 11, Springfield Lane Williamsport
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Arts and crafts for sale, pictures with the Easter Bunny (bring your camera) and children’s crafts by Girl Scout Troop 40411. Food will be sold Sponsored by C&O Canal Committee

Done to Death
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Friday at 7:30 pm
WHERE: Boonsboro High School, 10 Campus Ave, Boonsboro
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Presented by the Boonsboro High School Drama Department – “Done to Death” the story alternatives between imagination and reality as five mystery writers wrestle with the problem of writing a television mystery/murder series and then real murders occur

Home Show  2013
WHEN and WHAT TIME: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday,
WHERE: Hagerstown Community College’s Athletic, Recreation and Community Center, off Robinwood Drive, east of Hagerstown.
WHAT YOU’LL SEE:  Home Builders Association of Washington County will present is annual home show.
COST: $2; free for children younger than 12

Nighttime Egg Hunt
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday at 6 pm
WHERE: Boonsboro Bible Church, 6741 Old National Pike, Boonsboro
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Bring the whole family and your flashlights for this egg hunt. Snacks and drinks will also be provided
COST: Free

Williamsport Earth Hour
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday, March 23rd from 7 to 9:30 pm
WHERE: Springfield Barn
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Switch off your non-essential lights, grab your flashlights, and join your friend and neighbors as they become part of a global initiative. Join us as people around the world will turn off their non-essentials lights at 8:30 pm for one hour. Williamsport Elementary and Springfield Middle will also be collecting old phone books, printer ink cartridges and sneakers.
COST: Admission is free and they will be giving door prizes. Refreshments will be available to purchase.

Boonsboro Stream Cleanup
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday, March 23, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m
WHERE: Shafer Park, Boonsboro
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: The Boonsboro Environmental Commission will host stream cleanup in  honor of World Water Day, which is March 22.

 

World Water Day was established by the United Nations in 1993. World Water Day encourages events that promote a clean and sustainable water supply. The event is listed on the World Water Day website at http://www.unwater.org.

 

Many local service groups will participate and volunteers are welcome.

 

The cleanup event will be held before the spring growth starts. It will be easier to find and pick up the trash and debris. The group will be concentrating their efforts on the part of the stream that runs in the new section of the park, from the Scout Hut to behind the library. It is very marshy in some spots.

COST: Free Volunteers are encouraged to dress appropriately, and park on the playground side of Shafer Park. Participants should bring a water bottle, and any spare tools, such as rakes or pitch forks.

Community Easter Egg Hunt
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday 1:30 pm
WHERE: Widmeyer Park, W High Street, Hancock
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Community Egg hunt with a raindate of March 30

WHERE: Salem Lutheran Church, 17626 Bakersville Rd, Fairplay

Park Cleanup Day
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday 10 am to noon
WHERE: Fort Frederick State Park
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Volunteers will assist the park staff with picking up trash along the Western Maryland Rail Trail, at Ft Frederick State Park and Woodmont Natural Resources Management Area
COST: Free

Pet Friendly Easter Egg Hunt
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Sunday 1 to 3  Egg Hunt at 2
WHERE: Hearty Pet 19918 Jefferson Blvd, Hagerstown
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Children will hunt for Easter Eggs at 2pm. Dogs and Cats are encouraged to attend.
COST: Free
