Here are some fun things to do in Washington County this weekend…

Trains for Everyone
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Friday, Saturday and Sunday 1 to 5 pm
WHERE: Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum, 300 S Burhans Blvd Hagerstown.
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Displays include a Thomas the Tank Engine layout, HO scale model railroad, a McDonald’s train, a circus train and a trolley on a layout for kids to operate, historic railroad equipment, artifacts and photos
COST: Admission is $4;  50 cents for ages 4 to 12 and free for ages 3 and younger

Hagerstown Railroad Museum and Engine 202
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm
WHERE: City Park, 525 Highland Way, Hagerstown
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Hagerstown Railroad Museum features an outstanding collection of railroad memorabilia to please enthusiasts of all ages. Steam Locomotive Engine 202 is the crown jewel in this wide-ranging collection
COST: No admission fee but donations accepted

 Family Fun Fest
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday from 11 am to 7 pm
WHERE: Grace Academy , 13321 Cearfoss Pike, Hagerstown
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Planned activities include carnival-style games, hayrides, splash tanks, petting zoo and pony rides, hot dog eating contest, alumni volleyball and baseball games.
COST: No admission fee

Boonsboro Green Fest
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm
WHERE: Shafer Park in Boonsboro
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: They will have eco-friendly vendors, a sports equipment swap, exhibiters and crafters on hand to share information about green products, offer demonstrations and provide dozens of recycling opportunities
COST: This event is free and open to the public.

Signs of Hope Barnival
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday starting at 3 pm
WHERE: The Old Red Farmhouse, 13031 Spickler Rd, Clear Spring
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: This is a fundraising event and will feature a petting zoo, kid’s games, an evening movie in the barn., concessions and basked goods. Artwork created by the deaf children at the orphanage run by Bianerges Dear Initiative will be sold along with crafts of local artisan. Rain or Shine

Grand Opening with new exhibits
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday noon to 3 pm
WHERE: Washington Monument State Park, 6620 Zittlestown Rd, east of Boonsboro
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Three museum at South Mountain State Battlefield have been renovated and outfitted with start of the art exhibits. There will be speakers, living history demonstrations and Civil War music.
COST $2 for instate cars and $4 for out of state
 
To Garrison the Fort
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday 10 am to 4 pm and Sunday 10 am to 3 pm
WHERE: Fort Frederick State Park, 11100 Fort Frederick Park, Big Pool
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Experience life at the fort during the French and Indian War as members of the recreate Joshua Beall’s Company garrison the fort. Musket and cannon firing presentations, hearth cooking demonstration, a uniform and clothing talk and children’s’ military drills
COST: $3 per carload, $5 for out of state cars

Living History Weekend at Antietam
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday 11 am, 1 and 3 pm and Sunday  11 am and 1 pm
WHERE: Antietam National Battlefield, 5831 Dunker Church Rd, Sharpsburg
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Volunteers will portrait Tyndal’s Brigade of Union Soldiers. They will have weapon and tactics demonstrations
COST: $4 per person, ages 16 and older, $6 per family

Free movie
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday 7 pm
WHERE: Bridge of Life, 14 S Potomac St, Downtown
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: This week’s movie is “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey”

A younger and more reluctant Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, sets out on an “unexpected journey” to the Lonely Mountain with a spirited group of Dwarves to reclaim their stolen mountain home from a dragon named Smaug. Free popcorn and drinks too

Garden activity and Artisan Bread Baking
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday 1 to 4 pm
WHERE: Washington County Rural Heritage Museum, 7313 Sharpsburg Pike, South of Hagerstown
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Washington County Master Gardeners will give gardening advice in the four-square garden. They are planting a 72 foot sunflower garden and will share the history of sunflowers. Children will plant sunflower seeds in pots for Mom. The Bread Guild will be baking heirloom artisan bread at the outdoor wood fired oven beside the German four square garden. This month’s bread is rosemary and olive oil and raisin spice. $5 per loaf and it will be ready around 2 pm.

Mother’s Day Concert
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Sunday 3 pm
WHERE: Springfield Barn, Williamsport
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: The Williamsport Community Band will present their annual Mother’s Day Concert
