Here are some fun things to do in Washington County this weekend…

Railroad Heritage Days
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday 10 to 5 pm  and Sunday noon to 5 pm
WHERE: Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum, 300 S Burhans Blvd Hagerstown.
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: The event features Thomas the Tank trackless ride, Lego operating train layout, historical railroad equipment, trains of Christmas layout, and trains for kids to operate. G, O and HO scale trains layout, gift shop and more.
COST: Admission is $4;  50 cents for ages 4 to 12 and free for ages 3 and younger

Hagerstown Railroad Museum and Engine 202
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm
WHERE: City Park, 525 Highland Way, Hagerstown
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Hagerstown Railroad Museum features an outstanding collection of railroad memorabilia to please enthusiasts of all ages. Steam Locomotive Engine 202 is the crown jewel in this wide-ranging collection
COST: No admission fee but donations accepted

 Smithsburg Pride Days
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday noon to 5 pm
WHERE: Veterans Park in Smithsburg
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Come and celebrate by visiting the  craft and food vendors and enjoying live music on both days. On Saturday they will also have a parade at 11 am (there is a new route check website for details) and fireworks at dusk

Kids Alive Fest
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm
WHERE: Children’s Village, 1546 Mount Aetna Rd, Hagerstown
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Children’s Village of Washington County will host their annual open house and community safety day. Planned activities include helicopter landing, K9 Demonstrations, auto extrication demo, Ronald McDonald Safety Show, tours of the facility and the Burn house.
COST: Most activities are free and food will be available to purchase.
25th National Pike Festival & Wagon Train
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Friday evening, Satruday and Sunday
WHERE: Various Locations
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: It is time to travel the Road that Made the Nation again as the Wagon Train hitches the horses (and mules) to the wagons and starts their adventure in Clear Spring at Plumb Grove on Friday evening.

Friday evening the wagons will encamp for the night at Plumb Grove between 5-8 pm. The public is welcome to come and visit the encampment, partake in the free live music and purchase dinner.

The wagon train will depart Plumb Grove at 9 am on Saturday and will participate in the Pike Days Parade in Clear Spring at 9:30 am before stopping by the Wilson’s Store and Bridge at approx 10:30 am where you can visit the Wilson Store, the one roomed school and Bitter Sweet Memories – all open from 9 am to 5 pm.

The next stop on Saturday is Huyetts Crossroads at Wacohu Grange at approximately Noon. At this site they will have a chicken BBQ and a Bake sale and yard sale

From 2 -2:30 pm – the Wagon Train will make a stop at the Hagerstown City Park.

At 3:30 pm they will make a brief stop at Ravenwood Lutheran Church

Before moving on to the evening and overnight encampment at the Funkstown Community Park.  Arriving at approximately 5:30 pm

On Sunday – the wagon train will depart Funkstown Park at 10 am with a stop for lunch at Auction Square Market Place at noon.

The final stop will be at 1:30 pm at the Boonsboro Shafer Memorial Park in Boonsboro.

Patriotic Concert
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday at 7 pm
WHERE: Trinity Lutheran Church, 15 Randolph Ave, Hagerstown
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Hagerstown Choral Arts along with Rockland Woods Elementary school’s treble makers will perform an evening of patriotic music.
COST Free admission but free donation will be accepted

Reeling them In
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Sunday 8:30 – 11:30 am
WHERE: Lake Royer, Fort Ritchie in Cascade
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: The One Mountain Foundation will host its second annual children’s fishing rodeo for children ages 5 to 12. Event will include an educational presentation from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, hands on session on casting and fishing on Lake Royer. 8 am starts check in at the Lakeside Hall. Limited to first 100 kids
COST: $5 per child
