WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Come and check out the trains for kids to run, historical railroad equipment, artifacts and photos
COST: $5 adults, 50 cents ages 4 to 12 and free for ages 3 and younger

Corn Maze
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Opens Saturday August 31 They will be open weekends in September and October Hours: Fridays 5-10 pm / Saturdays Noon-10 pm / Sundays Noon-5 pm with a Special hours on Labor day September 2, 2013  Noon to 6 pm
WHERE: Celebration Farm, 17638 Garden View Road, Hagerstown
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: The Hagerstown Corn Maze reopens this Saturday, August 31st with 3 mazes to choose from this year. Guests may complete all or just one of the mazes for the same price. All proceeds go to local faith-based non profits.
COST Admission is $6 for ages 13 and up; $3 for ages 5 to 12 and free for children 4 and under.

“To Garrison The Fort”
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday 10 am to 4pm  and Sunday 10 am t o 3pm
WHERE: Fort Frederick State Park, 11100 Fort Frederick Rd, Big Pool
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Experience life at the Fort during the French and Indian War as members of the recreated Joshua Beall’s Company and Alexander Beall’s Company garrison the fort. Highlights of the event include musket and cannon firing presentations, hearth cooking demonstrations, a uniform and clothing talk and children military drills

Farm Day at Ravenwood

Washington County Geo Trail Launch
WHEN and WHAT TIME: September 14, Saturday, 9am-3pm
WHERE: Hagerstown City Park (West Pavilion), Hagerstown, MD 21740
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: The Washington County Geo Trail (WCG) will launch today. This trail consists of 35 geocaches placed at points of interest all over Washington County including parks, museums, historical sites and other places where visitors will have the opportunity to explore our unique local geography and history.

Herbs in the Garden:  Garden Activity and Children’s Program

WHERE: Rural Heritage Museum, 7313 Sharpsburg Pike, Boonsboro, MD  21713
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Meet with the University of MD Ext. Master Gardeners for gardening advice and tips.  Visitors can see, touch, smell and taste some of the more than 25 herbs scattered throughout the gardens. Activities for children. This event will be cancelled in the event of rain.

Sharpsburg Heritage Days
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday, September 14th from 9:30 am – 9 pm.
WHERE: Sharpsburg Town Square, Main and Mechanic Street, Sharpsburg
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Come and celebrate Sharpsburg’s Past, Present and Future. Planned events include a lively street festival featuring arts, crafts, literature, music, history, food, and more. Shop, learn, eat, dance and be merry on the square of Sharpsburg.

Celebrating the 151th Anniversary of the Battle of Antietam
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday
WHERE: Antietam National Battlefield visitor center auditorium off Sharpsburg Pike, Sharpsburg
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: The Antietam National Battlefield will present a series of programs to commemorate the 151st anniversary of the Battle of Antietam on Saturday, September 14th, Sunday, September 15th and Tuesday, September 17th.

Fought on Sept. 17, 1862, Union and Confederate Armies clashed for 12 hours over the rolling fields outside of Sharpsburg. When the sun set, more than 23,000 soldiers who had been killed or wounded or missing in what is considered the bloodiest one-day battle in American history.

All programs will take place rain or shine.

7th Annual Hagerstown Hispanic Festival
WHEN and WHAT TIME: September 15, Sunday, 12noon-6pm

WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Dance to great Latin American music, try authentic foods, cheer the players in the youth and adult soccer tournaments, watch the talent show, browse the vendors and enjoy the playground and all the activities, from coloring to face painting, in the kid’s pavilion!
