Free Movie – Captain Phillips
WHEN   and WHAT TIME: Friday,   March 21 at 7 pm
WHERE: Smithsburg   Library, 66 W Water St, Smithsburg, MD
WHAT   YOU’LL SEE: the   Smithsburg Library will show Captain Phillips – based on a true story this   movie focuses on the relationship between a freighter’s commanding officer   Capt. Richard Phillips and the Somali pirate captain, Muse, who takes him   hostage.  This movie is rated PG 13

Public Ice Skating
WHEN   and WHAT TIME: Friday   from 7 to 8:50 pm; Saturday, from 3 to 4:50 pm, Sunday from 2:30 to 3:50 and   Monday from noon to 1:50 pm.

Home Show 2014
WHEN   and WHAT TIME: Saturday, March 22 and Sunday, March 23 Hours are 9 am to   5 pm on Saturday and 10 am to 4 pm on Sunday
WHERE: The ARCC   building is located at 11400 Robinwood Drive, east of Hagerstown
WHAT   YOU’LL SEE: The Home   Builders Association of Washington County will host their annual Home Show   this at the Hagerstown Community College ARCC. This show will feature   products and services relate to the building industry and the home.
COST Admission   is $2 for adults and free for children under 12..

Saturday Plus at    Discovery Station
WHEN   and WHAT TIME: Saturday,   March 16 at 2 pm
WHERE: Discovery   Station, 101 W Washington St Downtown Hagerstown
WHAT   YOU’LL SEE:  Tim Keener, a ham radio operator, will talk   about Morse Code and explain the message sent the night the Titanic sank.

Friendship Day – Japanese Style
WHEN   and WHAT TIME: Sunday, March 22nd from 2 to 5 p.m.
WHERE: Discovery   Station, 101 W. Washington St. in Hagerstown
WHAT   YOU’LL SEE: Discovery   Station will celebrate “Tomodachi — Japan Friendship Day” at the museum. Boonsboro   High School Japanese language students of Ayako Shiga, Washington County’s   2013 Teacher of the Year, are hosting a group of students from Yokohama   Kokusai High School in Kanagawa, Japan, which is a sister city of Maryland.   They will participate in Sunday’s program. Visitors will learn about Japanese   life and culture through a number of activities.

Find out   what it is like to walk in getas, how to write with a brush, and how to fold   a fox from paper. Sample authentic green tea to see if it really tastes like   grass.  These are just some of the   hands-on activities the visiting students and their hosts will lead.  Tomodachi means “friend” in Japanese. The   Japanese Cultural Exhibit in the Nora Roberts Foundation Gallery at Discovery   Station was founded on the premise that learning about another culture helps   create new friendships. The event capitalizes on this theme in the exhibit   space created by artistic designer Sukey Rankin, Shiga and Japanese master   calligrapher Satomi Pirrone.  Light   refreshments will be served in the Explorer Café. Discovery Station is a   hands-on science museum with interactive exhibits featuring science,   technology and history.

COST Admission   will be free for the event with a paid admission to the museum.
Antique Tractors   
WHEN   and WHAT TIME: Sunday, March 23 thru Saturday, March 29- regular mall hours
WHERE: Valley   Mall
WHAT   YOU’LL SEE: Washington   County Antique Tractors Club’s spring mall show will be held this week- come   and check out the antique tractors, and lawn and garden tractors. A peddle   pull for ages 5 to 10 will be held on Saturday, March 29th at 7 pm

Irish Film Festival
WHEN   and WHAT TIME: Sunday,   March 22 at 7pm
WHERE: Fletcher   Library, 100 S Potomac St, downtown Hagerstown

Astronomy Programs
WHEN   and WHAT TIME: Tuesday   March 25h program 1 at 5:30 pm and program 2 at 7 pm
WHERE: William   Brish Planetarium at Washington County Public School, 820 Commonwealth Ave,   Hagerstown
WHAT   YOU’LL SEE: “Astronomy   Resources” shows where to find astronomical information from online   resources.  “Cowboy Astronomer” teaches   the history of some constellations – cowboy style.  Appropriate for elementary students through   adults
COST $3 for   adults, students and children $2; max for Families is $10. Gold card is free.   If schools are closed or dismissed early the event is cancelled
