Independence Day Eve event
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Thursday July 3
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Plumb Grove Mansion, intersection of Martin Street and Broadfording Rd, Clear Spring. Festivities at 6 pm; fireworks around 9:15 pm. Free admission – music, games for children, food for sale and house tours. For more information call 301-842-2342
Boonsboro’s early Independence Day celebration
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Thursday July 3
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: – festivities begin at 5 pm Shafer Park, 37 Park Drive in Boonsboro. Music by Rohrersville Band, activities for the kids and food for sale by local non profit organizations. Followed by a fireworks display at dark. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome. Rain date is Sunday July 6th. For more information go to
Celebration of Ransoming of Hagerstown 150’s anniversary
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Friday July 4
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: 3 pm Fairgrounds Park’s grandstand building,   Cannon Ave, Hagerstown – this is a free event. Ransoming of Hagerstown artifacts from the Washington County Historical Society’s Civil War collection will join other exhibits arranged by the City of Hagerstown to mark the 150th anniversary of the Ransoming of Hagerstown in July 1864. Ransom notes and ledger of those who paid the ransom will be shown. Fireworks opening ceremonies 6 pm; 630 pm entertainment; 930 pm fireworks.
Fourth in the Park
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Have a picnic in the park then enjoy a free patriotic performance by the Williamsport Community Band at dusk and fireworks at 9:15 pm. Live music will start at noon. Bryon Memorial Park, E Potomac St, Williamsport. For more information go to
Salute to Independence
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: – The Maryland Symphony Orchestra’s annual patriotic concert at 730 pm followed by fireworks at the Antietam National Battlefield, MD 65, Sharpsburg Pike, Sharpsburg. This is a free event. Pieter Bickford will serve as master of ceremonies and the MSO will be joined by guests from the US Marine Band, including Capt. Michelle A Rakers, guest conductor and Gunnery Sqt Mark Jenkins, euphonium, and vocalist Rob Tudor, director of vocal activities and music department chairman at Shepherd University. Canal Boat Program
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturdays and Sundays through Labor Day
WHERE: Williamsport C&O Canal Visitor Center, off US 11 in Williamsport
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Come check out the one hour interpretive program at 1030 am, 12:15 pm, 1:30 pm and 3 pm
COST Free but resverations will be taken on the day of the tour

Model Trains
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday and Sunday 1 to 5 pm
WHERE: Hagerstown Railroad Museum, 296 S Burhans Blvd, Hagerstown
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Come and check out all the trains.
COST Admission is $5 and 50 cents for ages 12 and younger

Mile Long Yard Sale
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Friday, July 4th
WHERE: Long Meadow Rd area
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: This popular community yard sale attracts treasure hinters throughout the quad state area. Originally on a mile along Paradise Church Rd it has spread to many communities to Long Meadow Road north of Hagerstown
COST Free – bring cash to shop and your walking shoes.
Saturday Plus at   Discovery Station
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday, July 5th at 11 am
WHERE: Discovery Station, 101 W Washington St Downtown Hagerstown
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Fourth of July Patriotic Crafts with Colleen Middour.

Pen Mar Park Concerts
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Sunday July 6 2 -5 pm

City Park Concert Series

WHERE: Peter Buys Band Shell in beautiful Hagerstown City Park, 501 Virginia Avenue, Hagerstown, MD.
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: City Park Concert Series – In its 100th season, The Hagerstown Municipal band presents a variety program of marches, overtures, and show tunes.

Paper Airplane Festival
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Wednesday July 9th 2 pm
WHERE: Fletcher Library, downtown Hagerstown
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: For ages 6 to 12, learn how to make a paper airplane that stays in the air by making them. Competitions including farthest flight distance, longest air time and stunts.
