Haunted tours and ghost walk

Heritage Fest
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday October 18th 11 – 3 pm
WHERE: Rural Heritage Musuem on Sharpsburg south of Hagerstown.
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: During Heritage Fest and Children’s Day, families will have the opportunity to experience what rural life was like in the mid 1800’s with demonstrators and activities. 11:00a.m.-3:00p.m.- Buildings open including Village and Farmstead with demonstrators and activities; special Homemade Heritage Food Menu; Children’s Activities with 4-H Youth Development 11:00a.m.-2:00p.m.- Join the Washington County Master Gardeners at the RHM Gardens for gardening information and activities. (*weather permitting) Four Square Education- ” Soil testing and amending garden soil; using a compost”; Four Square Kid’s in the Garden Activity- “Harvest happenings and crafts”; Medicinal Garden Topic- “Medical diagnosis through Herbs- A reenactment of a patient in the 19th Century” 11:00a.m.-2:00p.m.- Outdoor artisan bread baking in our wood fired oven by the RHM bread guild. Stop by and watch the bread guild at work and learn some techniques.

To Garrison the Fort
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday October 18th 10 am to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm – park will be closed from 4 to 6 pm

WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Experience life in the fort during the French and Indian War as members of the re-created Joshua Beall’s Co and the Alexander Beall’s Co garrison the fort

Flyin/ Drive in
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Saturday October 18th


WHERE: Airport firehouse next to the main terminal
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: EAA Chapter 36 Flyin/Drive-in Breakfast AND Lunch and Young Eagle flights, KHGR, Hagerstown, MD at the airport firehouse next to the main terminal. Time is 8:00 am – 10:30 am for breakfast and the menu includes sausage, hot cakes, scrambled eggs, , coffee and orange juice. All you can eat (on premises only) adults $7.00, children 6 – 12 $4, under 6 free. Lunch is 11:00 – 1:30 and the menu includes Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, French Fries a la carte. Young Eagle rides first come, first flown weather permitting. Free parking at the main terminal, aircraft parking on the SW apron next to the firehouse

Children’s Costume Party
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Sunday October 19th 2 to 3 pm
WHERE: Discovery Station, 101 W. Washington Street, Hagerstown, MD
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: A Special Sunday at the Discovery Station!

Children are invited to come dressed up in their Halloween Costumes and “Trick-or-Treat” through the exhibits for clues to discover during this Halloween Mystery Party! There will be games and prizes too! Halloween cookies and witches brew will be served in the Café!

The party itself is from 2:00pm to 3:30pm. The museum will be open till 5:00pm for visitors to continue to enjoy the exhibits after the party!

WHEN and WHAT TIME: Sunday, October 19, 2014. The event will be held from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
WHERE: Highland View Academy , 10100 Academy Drive, Hagerstown, MD 21740
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: SThe newly-created STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Department at Highland View Academy will be holding a STEMFEST on There will be a short keynote address from a National Science Foundation guest. There will be booths from STEM organizations, such as the Department of Energy, NOAA, NASA, NIH, NSF, USDA, and many others. Our very own HVA STEM Department will have several hands-on activities for children and youth. The festival will feature interactive and educational activities for all ages.   Organizations will give away resources, posters, information sheets, and other materials, which teachers and homeschoolers may use.   Refreshments will be sold, with proceeds going to the STEM program.   This will be a free fun family activity.
Open Airplane Afternoon
WHEN and WHAT TIME: Sunday October 19th 1 to 4 pm
WHERE: Hagerstown Regional Airport, Hagerstown, MD
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Climb into the cockpit of the museum’s Fairchild C-82 or C-119 Flying Boxcar. You might be interested in the museum’s 1943 Fairchild PT-26 WWII Trainer or other museum aircraft such as the 1943 Fairchild PT-19 WWII Trainer or the 1928 Kreider Reisner KR-31 biplane. All these aircraft were built in Hagerstown, MD.

Williamsport Haunted Walking tours
WHEN and WHAT TIME: 7 and 9 p.m. Continue Thursdays and Saturdays through Thursday, Oct. 30; also Fridays at 9 p.m
WHERE: Meet at the Desert Rose Café, 42 N. Conococheague St., Williamsport.
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Those younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Leaders of the walks through Williamsport will share tales about the town’s history and ghost stories. The last stop on the tour is Town Hall, where participants will learn about ghost-hunting equipment and do a ghost hunt in the building.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own recording devices and flashlights.

Hosted by the River Rat Paranormal Society.
