Into the Woods JR and Fairy Tale Courtroom…. Sunday, November 16 & 23 2:30 p.m.

WHERE: The Productions are held at the Barbara Ingram School for the Arts Black Box Theatre
WHAT YOU’LL SEE: The Barbara Ingram School for the Arts Theatre Department is busy preparing their upcoming Fall Productions. This year the theatre department members are presenting their favorite fairy tales told in two uniquely different styles.

The Junior and Senior theatre members are presenting Into the Woods, Jr., the authorized young performer’s edition of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s cock-eyed view of everyone’s favorite fairytale characters in a hysterical take on the Brothers Grimm. (The movie version based on the complete Broadway Production of Into the Woods is scheduled to hit movie theaters Christmas Day). In this, a bit shorter and lighter junior version, The Grimm’s fairytale characters Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk and Rapunzel, among others, offer a cock-eyed musical intertwining of the traditional story plots and follow the characters as they explore the consequences of their wishes and quests.

The Freshman and Sophomore theatre members as a pre-show offer a more traditional one act comedy, Fairy Tale Courtroom by Dana Proulx, which shows the other side of the familiar fairy tales when two of their biggest villains, the Big Bad Wolf and the Wicked Witch, are brought to trial. The audience is the jury, so each trial has two endings depending on the verdict.

Both productions will highlight the amazing talents of the Theatre Department members from Barbara Ingram. These are both child friendly productions.
